I grew up in rural northern Illinois, where fields and forests fueled my curiosity and shaped my teaching. For more than 10 years, I taught more than 400 children and families in a bilingual early–childhood classroom, blending inquiry-based play, Reggio Emilia, and STEAM concepts inspired by nature. I also trained colleagues to ensure more students could access high-quality STEAM learning.
In 2016, I became a Play Scientist, working with schools, districts and nonprofits, nationwide to design nature-based curricula, lead workshops, and consult on landscape projects.
Most recently, at SPARK Learning Lab, I expanded this work by coaching early childhood educators statewide, supporting them in building playful, inquiry-driven, and developmentally appropriate classrooms.
My mission is simple: to make high-quality, nature-inspired learning accessible to every student.
